Ive had neck discs & pinch nerves for a long time and been using several different neck tractions at home and this is the newest addition to my old stuff. The instruction is good. Its easy to use and I dont have to be stuck in one position. I can move if I need to (like going to the bathroom..LOL. Its recommended to keep the cervical spine stable as much as possible) Once the air is pumped you can detach the pump so it wont dangle around.
I must have a short neck (think under 4) as the device itself fits tight without side knobs. My chin was hurting just wearing the device. Ive used it twice a day for a week and I felt relief from my neck pain. I also felt better on my chin. That tells me its stretching my neck. ??
I recommend this device but Ive used doctor prescribed air pump neck traction before so Im used to my air PSI. If you are new to neck traction, Please talk to your doctor before using it! Also check cautions and warnings from the company before using it.
I spend a lot of time sitting in a chair, often more than 12 hours a day, and have experienced shoulder and neck pain for years. The pain became chronic, and sometimes I couldn't even work. Recently, I also started feeling pain around my head and face, which is very scary.
I have tried several special neck pillows for sleeping, a neck guard for working, and a neck stretcher that I can use by lying down from time to time. These helped to some extent, but I was looking for something that could support both my neck and shoulders at the same time. I noticed that my left shoulder is significantly more elevated than my right, which seemed to worsen the neck pain.
When I found this device on Amazon, I decided to give it a try. I like that it's designed to keep the shoulders down while stretching the neck. Heres what I found after using it many times throughout an entire day:
- It's very light and doesn't hurt my collarbone or any other part of my body.
- My neck gets stretched just by wearing it, even without increasing the height of the neck support.
- Wearing it for 10C15 minutes every few hours significantly relieves my neck and shoulder pain. I feel the difference immediately, and this seems to work the fastest for pain relief.
- Wearing it for longer than 15 minutes causes some nerve sensations in my arm. However, once I take it off, the sensation disappears, and my neck and shoulders feel lighter. Maybe my posture is really bad, so stretching for too long might be overwhelming for my body.
- My only complaint is that I wish the fabric pads were detachable so I could wash them after several uses.
I highly recommend this device. I'm wearing it while writing this review and plan to use it every day.
I really want to like this, but it is actually a little difficult to put on. You have to loosen the dial as much as possible and then you have to put it around your neck and do more reaching. There is a lot of reaching in order to buckle and connect. Once you get that on, you've then got to hook up the pump and pump it up. It is going to be much easier if you have a second person to help with this. It's a lot of work to use, but that said, it is great when you have neck and back pain that can be relieved with a little stretching and decompression. I had back surgery and even after a decade this feels so good. It is a little pricey at $110 for the device, but depending on how much pain you are in you may want to pay for it.
I have a C4 and C5 herniated discs. I have other devices that are suppose to stretch it out but this one actually made a difference. At first when you put it on its a little uncomfortable cause its keeping your neck staight up. Recommend using with another person around the first time to help put on. Do not be afraid of the inflation controller. It doesnt make this device go up. It just has a pad in it that inflates. It feels good and deflates somewhat quickly. So remember to keep pushing. The knobs i
the front ho up and down for the front portion, start at the lowest. The knob on the back brings the back closer on you neck. Believe it or not the tighter it was brought in the better i felt. Ive been putting this on for 10 to 20 mins daily for the past week and i feel a huge difference in the pain in the back of neck and my shoulder and arm/hand. I feel like i stand taller to with my neck not being so compressed.
The Dr.'s x-rays showed a compressed cervical disc. He suggested traction as a way to alleviate and heal the issue. I am fully on board for the idea but the cost was more than I wanted to spend right now.
I did some searching and found the RISURRY Cervical Neck Traction Device.
It has been absolutely helpful in reducing a lot of the tingles in my arm and the ache in my neck.
What I have found helpful is that:
1. I attach the device around my neck and start to inflate the air bladder until the needle on the pump is just at the green. There is no need to go higher than that.
2. I then tighten the unit around my neck until its nice and firm with not a lot of room to move my head. 3. I then use the lift handles on the sides to elevate my neck until I get a good stretch. I like 3 turns. Usually about a half hour while watching TV.
Another item I use in conjunction with the device is a head hammock ( search for it on Amazon). I will use that when I get home from work. Laying in a nice Shavasana (corpse pose) for about 20 minutes, I unwind and and get my neck loosened up. After that I put the neck traction device on.
I purchased the device in May and have been doing that protocol every day since. I can honestly say it's made a big difference in the overall health and wellbeing of me and my neck.
